Directors & Management

Bill Radvak, BASc

President, CEO and Director

Bill Radvak has 30 years of experience as senior manager and/or director of junior public companies with business including high tech, biotech and mining. Bill Radvak received a Mining and Mineral Processing Degree (1986) from the University of British Columbia. Bill Radvak joined Monitor Ventures as President & CEO in 2010. Previously he was a Founder and CEO of Response Biomedical Corp., a publicly listed medical device company. Mr. Radvak led Response Biomedical from inception to a 90-employee sales and manufacturing company.

Brett Whalen, CFA

Director, Chairman

Brett Whalen joined Monitor Ventures Inc. as a Director in October 2013 and became Chairman of the Board in April, 2014. Brett serves as the Vice President & Portfolio Manager of Goodman & Company, Investment Counsel Inc. and has over 15 years of experience with CMP and Canadian Dominion Resources.
Mr. Whalen received a Bachelor Degree in Economics from Wildfrid Laurier University in 1998 and became a CFA charter holder in 2001. Prior to joining Monitor Ventures, Brett was an investment banker with experience that included senior positions at Dundee Capital Markets, Clarus Securities Inc. and Jacob Securities where he assisted mining companies with financings and M&A transactions.

Brian Bayley


Brian Bayley is knowledgeable in areas of asset backed lending, corporate restructuring, natural resources and real estate. From June 2003 to July 2013, Mr. Bayley held various positions including CEO and President and Director of Quest Capital Corp., a predecessor company to Sprott Resource Lending Corp. (a publicly traded resource lending company). Prior to his positions with Quest Capital Corp., Mr. Bayley worked with the Vancouver Stock Exchange, now the TSX Venture Exchange. Mr. Bayley has held active senior management positions in both private and public natural resource companies and has over 30 years of public issuer experience both as a director and officer. Mr. Bayley holds an MBA from Queen’s University.

John Downes

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Downes is a Certified Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant, and also has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria. Mr. Downes has 15 years of management and accounting experience in the natural resource and financial services sectors. Mr. Downes serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Earlston Investments Corp. Previously, he was the Manager of Financial Reporting for Sprott Resource Lending Corp. and has held various audit and consulting positions with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Vancouver and Dublin, Ireland.

Sandra Lee

Corporate Secretary

Sandra Lee has worked in public company management and administration since 1996. Currently she is the Corporate Secretary of Earlston Investments Corp., a private merchant bank. Previously, Ms. Lee was the Corporate Secretary of several publicly traded companies including Sprott Resource Lending Corp., a resource lending company, between July 2003 and January 2011 and Kirkland Lake Gold Inc., an operating and exploration gold company, between February 1995 to February 2012. Prior to industry experience, Ms. Lee worked as a legal assistant for a number of national law firms in the areas of corporate and securities laws. Ms. Lee has a Legal Assistant certification from Capilano College and is a Member of the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

The annual and a special meeting (“Meeting”) of the holders (“Shareholders”) of common shares (“Common Shares”) of the American Vanadium.
